After receiving the call from Cisco, I was excited yet apprehensive about what lay ahead. The interview process turned out to be a structured and insightful journey, comprising three distinct rounds. Each round helped me understand the role and Cisco’s culture while showcasing my own skills and capabilities.
Round 1: The Manager Interview
The first round was with my potential manager. This interview primarily focused on soft skills and whether I would be a good fit for Cisco’s culture. It was an engaging discussion, delving into my experiences, values, and aspirations. Toward the end of the interview, I was assigned a task to prepare a customer presentation about Secure Access Service Edge (SASE). At the time, it was the first time I had heard of the term—what a challenge! I dived into research and preparation with a mix of curiosity and determination.
Round 2: The Role Play
The second round was a role-play exercise with a future colleague. I presented my findings and insights on SASE as though addressing a customer. It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase not just my technical understanding but also my ability to communicate effectively. The presentation went smoothly, and I received positive feedback, which boosted my confidence for the final round.
Round 3: The Technical Interview
The last round was a more technical discussion with another colleague. This session allowed me to demonstrate my expertise and problem-solving skills. The questions were challenging but fair, and I felt prepared to tackle them head-on. By the end of this round, I had a sense of accomplishment, knowing I had given my best throughout the process.
A Swift and Rewarding Process
What surprised me most was how quickly everything unfolded. The entire process—from the initial call to the final interview—was completed within a week. Shortly thereafter, I received the contract, officially becoming a part of Cisco. It was a whirlwind experience, but one that left me inspired and eager to embark on this new chapter.
